It is pivotal for APEC members to address food security, climate change and resource management to achieve both the sustainable agriculture and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over the next 15 years in the regions. This project aims to assess the needs and gaps in terms of policy, technology, investment and capacity building in APEC region for achieving SDGs, with the particular focus on the Food security-climate-resource nexus. Based on the analysis, this project will help identify the co-benefit and tradeoffs between food security, climate change and resource management, and develop the technology pathways and policy recommendations for promoting sustainable agriculture.
A two-day workshop will be held in China by October 2017. It will help identify status quo, gaps, solutions, as well as share experiences and lesson learnt for the “Food security-Climate-Resource nexus in the context of sustainable agriculture in the APEC region.
