Project Summary

A rapidly ageing population in parts of the APEC region has placed an increased burden on economies’ domestic infrastructure and will lead to significant impacts for regional economic development in the future. However, this also presents an opportunity for member economies to individually and collectively re-think their current approaches, identify and develop new strategies as well as implement innovative market based solutions in sectors such as health, infrastructure and services.

Phase 1 of the APEC Project examining the role of standards and innovation for driving APEC’s silver economy (SCSC 01 2016S) set out several recommendations in the final workshop and recommendations report. This second phase of the project will help to progress these recommendations.
