Project Summary

In 2017, the APEC Ministers adopted an APEC Strategy for Green, Sustainable and Innovative MSMEs, which is intended to enhance green awareness and the necessary skills of MSMEs, as well as create an enabling environment where MSMEs can effectively participate in green business activities based on the public-private partnership approach. In order to go green, MSMEs still face significant challenges in terms of awareness, capacity and finance. Therefore, this project aims at equipping MSMEs, particularly those in tourism and food sectors, with knowledge and capacity to adopt green business practices, while enhancing their competitiveness in greener GVCs by utilizing e-commerce and other digital platforms.

Key project activities and expected outputs include:

- Organize an APEC Forum on enhancing MSMEs’ competitiveness through green business practices and a back-to-back workshop to discuss policy recommendations on supporting green MSMEs especially
those in tourism and food sectors

-  Organize outreach activities to raise green awareness among local Thai MSMEs in tourism and food sector

-  Develop an APEC Handbook comprising best practices on promoting green MSMEs in tourism and food sectors
