This project addresses challenges in achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 HIV/AIDS targets across APEC economies, particularly considering recent increases in HIV infection in some economies and the region's below-average performance in implementing HIV-related policies. HIV/AIDS reduces productivity, slows economic growth, increases costs, decreases family savings, increases absenteeism, and exacerbates economic inequalities. The project will help economies identify and overcome barriers such as inadequate healthcare infrastructure, limited access to HIV testing and treatment, and persistent stigma. To achieve this, the project will produce an issues paper, host a policy dialogue, and develop an action plan between 2024-2025. These activities will engage policymakers, healthcare providers, and civil society from all APEC economies to foster regional collaboration and drive progress.
