Project Summary

Marine energy integration development presents a synergistic approach for a sustainable future. Harnessing the vast potential of the oceans requires a holistic and integrated approach that goes beyond individual technologies. By combining ocean energy with other marine sectors, we can create a synergistic development model that maximizes resource utilization, enhances sustainability, and drives economic growth. On this note, the project is designed to engage EWG and leverage the cross-fora collaboration to further tap the potential of ocean energy in APEC region.

The workshop is scheduled for November 2024 in Shenzhen China. The workshop will engage stakeholders including policy makers, technology developers and representative from end users to communicate or discuss the policy support to ocean energy integration development, technical challenges and obstacles, best practices and implementation routes.

The workshop aims to initiate a communication platform on the marine energy integration for ocean energy and blue economy among APEC Economies, to address the challenges and opportunities of ocean energy development in the APEC region , while taking into account the APEC just energy transition principles implemented by the EWG. By bring together experts, policy makers, civil society, and industry leaders from across the region, the workshop will foster collaboration and knowledge sharing to promote the sustainable development of ocean energy. Finally, we will develop a summary report .

The workshop will address the challenges and opportunities of ocean energy development in the region while considering the APEC just energy transition principles implemented by the EWG.  By bringing together experts, policymakers, civil society, and industry leaders from across the region, the workshop will foster collaboration and knowledge sharing to promote the sustainable development of ocean energy.  Ultimately, a summary report will be developed.
