Project Summary

SMEs are the engine of growth in APEC as they account for over 97 percent of all businesses and employ over half of the workforce across APEC economies. However, they face several challenges that limit their growth potential, being limited access to finance one of the biggest. Accordingly, one of the priority areas of the SMEWG Strategic Plan 2020-2024 is “access to finance and alternative financial solutions”. Peru proposes to hold a self-funded two-hour workshop within the framework of SME Week (SMEWG and SMEMM) (10 September 2024) in Pucallpa, Ucayali.

The objective is to exchange experiences and best practices on initiatives and recommendations in support of MSMEs’ access to financial services, with the participation of international experts and representatives from the APEC region.
