The project focuses on the need for member economies to develop a strong cervical cancer elimination strategy, using a whole-of-government and multi-sectoral approach. By developing a focused domestic strategy, economies can make progress towards elimination targets set by the WHO and in line with the APEC cervical cancer roadmap. The key activity will be the convening of a policy dialogue, where member economies will highlight best practices and lessons learnt, to facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building. In particular, we will spotlight progress made in other APEC economies like Peru, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and the People’s Republic of China. A key example we will highlight is Indonesia’s journey that began with the 2023 SOM3 meetings, following which the Indonesian Ministry of Health developed its cervical cancer elimination strategy. We will also emphasize Indonesia’s policy leadership and funding commitment to achieve its ambitious goals. Some of desired outcomes include: · Identifying “champion” economies that will advocate for cervical cancer elimination to peer economies. . Economies to express interest initiating the development (or improvement) of their own elimination plans. |
