Project Summary

APEC’s trade and investment efforts have been the engine of economic growth in the region for decades; increasing standards of living, promoting economic opportunities through fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, and achieving broad based poverty reduction outcomes. However, trade benefits are distributed unevenly across the region. Acknowledging that more focus is needed to strengthen policies promoting sustainable trade for inclusive and broad-based economic growth, the United States established the San Francisco Principles (SFP) to support the practical integration of inclusion and sustainability into trade and investment policy. The objective of this project is to support implementation of the specific SFP which recognize the importance of improving the quality, scope, timeliness, disaggregation, availability and sharing of qualitative and quantitative open and publicly available data to understand and monitor the economic, environmental, and social impacts of trade policy on different peoples and their communities.
