Project Summary

Smart agriculture heavily relies on new technology, such as AI, IoT, robotics and drones to increase the quantity and quality of products while optimizing the human labor required by production. As part of the implementation of the APEC Food Security Roadmap Towards 2030, Malaysia would like to host a series of activities including webinars and experience sharing sessions targeting the youth, women farmers and the underserved communities to share their experience and expertise in developing and promoting smart agricultural systems to advance agricultural production as well as to safeguard food security. The project is also consistent with the Putrajaya Vision 2040 and Aotearoa Plan of Action, to promote sustained and resilience recovery from the pandemic and strong, balance, secure, sustainable and inclusive growth including women and others with untapped economic potential. The webinar will highlight the role of smart agriculture in reinvigorating the economy of the APEC Region. It will include trends and prospects of smart agriculture R&D and application, the development and application of new technologies, and best practices of ensuring youth, women and the underserved communities with equal access to affordable inputs and improved technologies of smart agriculture.
