Project Summary

Accelerating implementation of the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) has been a longstanding item on APEC’s agenda.  Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) have committed to accelerate the implementation of the TFA, which is a priority for both the CTI and the SCCP. This project seeks to inform future SCCP work to accelerate the implementation of customs related TFA articles. Using CTI’s Table Monitoring APEC TFA Implementation as a foundation, the project will survey economies on their implementation priorities, capacity building currently being undertaken, and challenges faced in implementation. The survey will seek to understand gaps in assistance that economies would like to see addressed by future SCCP projects. Responses will be collated into the final output, an assessment report titled SCCP actions to accelerate the implementation of the TFA. This report will recommend a future stream of work run by the SCCP to accelerate the implementation of the WTO TFA.
