Project Summary

As APEC economies recover from COVID-19 they face increased demand for skills in areas such as ICT, technology, financial services and health. Micro-credential courses offer a means to rapidly deliver training that addresses skill needs and promotes lifelong learning. They are short and targeted training products which provide a more flexible approach to learning than traditional forms of education. The project aims to build capability in APEC economies for those interested in delivering online micro-credentials to support skills development.

Australia proposes to host a series of three virtual workshops on how to design, develop and deliver online micro-credentials in higher education, including collating and exchanging best practices in APEC economies.

A toolkit will be developed, informed by the workshops, and will include key tools and resources to support the design, development and delivery of a high-quality online micro-credential course. The toolkit aims to provide education providers and governments with a useful resource when developing their own micro-credentials.
