The Agricultural Biotechnology Seminar Series will provide a platform for APEC economies to share resources, exchange experiences, and promote knowledge for the adoption, use, and trade of products of agricultural biotechnology. Over the course of the series, four APEC economies will rotate to each lead a 90-minute virtual seminar presentation and discussion on various issues related to the use and trade of agricultural biotechnologies and their products within the APEC region. These four individual virtual seminars will be hosted in March, May, July, and September 2022. Topics of the seminars will be developed in consultation with the four lead APEC economies and could include: low level presence; science communication; streamlining regulatory approvals; agricultural biotechnology as a tool to meet sustainability, environmental, and climate goals; and other relevant topics. Economies are encouraged to host a seminar on a topic of interest and/or to share their experiences adopting, using, and trading products of agricultural biotechnologies. This project aligns with the 2020 APEC ministerial statements pledging to build agricultural biotechnology capacities in APEC economies.
