Project Summary

With the impact of COVID-19 restricting cross border movement, trade promotion has also been affected. Policy makers and businesses undergoing digital transformation are facing a major challenge, which are required to change their mindset to adapt new technologies. Meanwhile, there have been new activities and approaches to increase trade promotion by adapting digital solutions even with the restriction of cross border movement.

This project will have an online workshop aiming to introduce best practices that enhance trade promotion by utilising digital technologies, particularly in the fields of business exhibitions and business meetings, which play a key role for trade promotion as the first step of business communication.  This project will also explore specific success factors and challenges as well as the role of government in adapting digital technologies toward facilitating trade promotion in this area. They will provide useful policy implications for policy makers in charge of trade promotion in the APEC region in the post pandemic era. The discussion of the workshop will be consolidated into a report.
