Project Summary

APEC Closing the Digital Skills Gap Report: Trends and Insights; Perspectives on the Supply and Demand of Digital Skills and Degree of Digitalization lays out a common definition of digital skills, sets aspirational targets, and details APEC-wide actions on a multi-stakeholder basis to close the digital skills gap. Digital gap in indigenous areas has caused economic weakness, limited education and medical resources; coupled with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has also greatly affected the indigenous industries.

The project “Driving the Digital Transformation and Capacity Building for APEC Indigenous Peoples through i-Tribe Free Outdoor WiFi” aims at promoting the installation and accessibility of digital infrastructure and building indigenous peoples’ capacity on ICTs to achieve better inclusiveness and meet the APEC Internet and Digital Economy Roadmap (AIDER). The project will be conducting online seminars to share the i-Tribe project experience and to exchange ideas with other economies on the current development status of the installation and application of digital infrastructure in APEC indigenous communities to increase the accessibility of ICTs for Indigenous Peoples.
