Project Summary

This 3-hour webinar, to be held in July 2021, aims to provide insights to help the work of DESG in promoting the development and inter-operability of (a) digital ID systems and (b) corporate e-KYC approaches across APEC member economies. One session will be dedicated to each of these two topics, for a total of 2 main sessions. The session on digital ID will include a discussion of a case study, which will be Thailand’s NDID. Each session will be a moderated panel discussion that will cover the following: (a) clear definitions of what is meant by digital ID and corporate e-KYC; (b) what are the benefits to APEC member economies; (c) how can they best be developed into inter-operable systems across economies; (d) what is needed from governments and regulators; and (e) what are low-hanging fruits that can be targeted for accomplishment in 2022. After the webinar, APFF will develop a report for submission to DESG in August 2021 and for presentation by APFF at the coming DESG meeting. APFF will also provide expert resource persons in case DESG needs them to make presentations in its next meeting.
