The Business Ethics for APEC SMEs Initiative is the world’s largest public-private partnership to strengthen ethical business practices in the medical device and biopharmaceutical sectors. Each year, hundreds of stakeholders participate in the annual forum to advance the Initiative’s signature lines of work. This self-funded project proposal seeks to outline the role of APEC governments in the activities of the Business Ethics for APEC SMEs Initiative on the margins of the 51st APEC Small and Medium Enterprises Working Group (SMEWG) Meeting. Designed as a 90-minute virtual program, the Government Stakeholder Session will present the three key lines of work in the Business Ethics for SMEs Initiative including: establishing industry best practices; SME capacity-building; and multi-stakeholder engagement through consensus frameworks. The Government Stakeholder Session will enable delegates to learn more about how ethical business practices ensure long-term, sustainable growth for the region’s SMEs and identify opportunities for direct engagement.
