Project Summary

SMEs are referred as the backbones of APEC economy. This year SMEs in many economies face unprecedented challenges affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic. To effectively respond to the pandemic, it is important to improve the resilience of SMEs to help them revive and rejuvenate from these unpredictable emergencies and maintain sustainable economic growth in APEC economies. This topic also echoes the priorities of APEC SMEMM Declaration and APEC SMEWG.

The project has been built on the previous outcomes by organizing the APEC SME Business Forum in China in the last 3 consecutive years. Centred on the theme of  “Promoting Resilience and Sustainability of SMEs”, this year’s project aims to improve policy environment for SME innovation, strengthen the resilience of SMEs, and promote the collaboration of SME innovation in APEC region. The project will include one main forum- 2020 APEC SME Business Forum, sub-forums and investigation tours. And the 2020 forum presidium will discuss on the proposals and initiatives regarding better fostering resilience and sustainability of SMEs. The forum also provides the dialogue platform for facilitating the entrepreneurs’ views and voices to be better presented and considered. The project is planned to be implemented in the end of December, 2020, in Shenzhen, China. The participants are welcome to attend both virtually and physically.
