Project Summary

This project aims to build the capacity of the APEC business community to better support women entrepreneurs and business owners to build export-ready businesses and access global markets. Delivered as an online training course, it will explore the specific barriers faced by women traders and present approaches that will enable business groups to assist women to identify and access markets, build market recognition and export opportunities, and manage risk. The project is especially relevant at this time, given the disproportionate economic impact of COVID-19 on women, particularly those employed in MSMEs. The initiative builds on an existing Australian training course for Trade Promotion Organisations in APEC economies, recalibrated for participants from Chambers of Commerce and equivalent organisations in APEC economies. The recast course is driven by interest from the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) and will support APEC’s efforts to deliver regional responses to the economic impact of COVID-19.
