This project builds on an existing, self-funded Australian training course aimed at improving the capacity of Trade Promotion Organisations (TPOs) to better support women entrepreneurs and women-led MSMEs to access global markets. Based on participant feedback and demand, this project will present experiences, best practices, insights and ‘lessons learned’ from APEC economies through a series of interactive, online interviews with subject matter experts, and encourage an ongoing dialogue and community of learning in APEC. This project will also update the existing TPO training course to address the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women traders. The project’s focus on the systemic barriers faced by women in trade is particularly relevant at this time, given the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on women, particularly those employed in MSMEs.
