Project Summary

The objective is to enhance and complement capacities of economies through an exchange of information and experiences in implementing policies that contribute to growth of the digital economy with a focus on a) building digital literacy b) supporting digital inclusion and adaptation, and c) fostering an enabling environment for the digital economy.

The symposium will be held over 2 days and be comprised of a series of expert-led and focussed group discussions to explore best practice approaches in building digital literacy (skills/talent development), supporting digital inclusion, and fostering an enabling a sustainable and agile environment for digital economy. International case studies and APEC-wide perspectives on digital policies/approaches would be invited. A strong emphasis on women and MSMEs, and the evolving needs of industry and the business community would be a key consideration in all the discussions.

The project will identify opportunities for greater cooperation between APEC members and business on digital issues, support MSMEs (including women-led businesses), innovation enterprises, and workers with information and tools for participating in the digital economy, and highlight approaches to harness on the opportunities in the digital economy.
