The accelerating wave of Scientific Revolution and Industrial Revolution has brought about unprecedented transformations to the global economy. As a type of new economic trend, digital economy has becoming a powerful driving force for the upgrading of the SMEs’ quality, efficiency and power. However, it remains challenging now for SMEs to get involved in the digital economy.

In order to build an effective platform for SMEs to share their most innovative technologies and ideas, China proposes to hold a 3-day forum in October, 2019 in Chengdu, China. The forum will discuss and focus on the main theme of “ SME Digital Economic Development”. Details are as follows: (i) discuss the current state-of-play of SMEs, opportunities and challenges from the Internet and digital economy, (ii) present case studies of SMEs in APEC economies, (iii) hold sub-forums on four major topics and discuss these areas in depth, (iv) put forward recommendations for SMEs on how to be innovative and how to cooperate with each other in the digital economy.
