The use of LNG is expected to quickly expand in the coming years in the region. However, rapid LNG demand growth imposes challenges for suppliers interested in reliable customers and buyers interested in stable supply at reasonable prices. Because APEC economies represent some of the largest global producers and buyers of LNG, APEC economies have joint interest in facilitating the efficient distribution of LNG, which is also one of the underpinning foundations of regional energy security.
This project, by means of hosting an APEC workshop, aims to provide a platform for deeper dialogues on policies, regulatory frameworks and market mechanisms related to the region’s LNG development and trade facilitation among current and future LNG suppliers and consumers of the region. Experts of member economies, international organizations, and regional LNG trading hub will be invited to share their views on the challenges and prospect of LNG trade in the region.
