Project Summary

Among APEC’s goals is to support the robust and inclusive employment of women in all sectors. Since 2015, the APEC Women in Transportation (WiT) Data Framework and Best Practices Initiative has fostered policies and practices that advance the employment and engagement of women in the transportation sector. To mark and build on gains in awareness and knowledge, as well as tangible commitments to inclusion of women in transport jobs, the United States proposes to conduct the above-referenced 2018 Women in Transportation (WiT) Roundtable. The event will highlight and reflect on learning that has taken place to date, including through WiT’s pilot activities. In addition, the Roundtable will set the stage for continued improvements in data collection and provide an opportunity to refine WiT’s future objectives. The project responds directly to APEC Leaders’ objectives, aligns with the Transportation Working Group, and supports the TPTWG-WiT Task Force.
