Project Summary

Australia is proposing to host a Symposium to assist developing APEC economies to identify and discuss their individual roadmap priorities with respect to the aspects of the APEC Services Competitiveness Roadmap (ASCR) with input from the Symposium facilitator, subject matter experts and peer economies.

The objective of the Symposium is to assist APEC economies to implement the ASCR priorities by inviting them to table their individual roadmap priorities with respect to services trade. The Symposium will provide a platform for the participants to brainstorm ideas; exchange experiences including sharing good practice examples; and jointly identify practical approaches to address challenges in their respective economies.

An internationally recognised expert on services trade and regulatory barriers in services will facilitate discussions on a policy framework required for good practice services competitiveness. Other expert speakers from the private sector and international trade and investment organisations will provide their insights into regulations and standards that impede services competitiveness, and encourage discussions on ways of addressing such impediments.
