Project Summary

One of the greatest challenges today is the transforming global environment and decision-makers are struggling with their lack of understanding and ability to respond to the need for climate risk management. This project aims to improve the understanding of climate science and its applications to the agriculture and water sectors, in order to enhance water and food security. Through innovative research and technologies, climate information and services can equip decision-makers with the necessary information to develop science-informed policies. The APEC Climate Symposium will be conducted in cooperation with relevant PNG government ministries during the third quarter of 2018 in PNG. The event will explore challenges and successes in producing more accurate region-specific climate information that can be applied to agriculture/water resources decision-making practices. This scientific information will also be translated to articulate policies to better equip APEC decision-makers in sustainable policy development, and help tackle climate change and food security.
