Project Summary

APEC has issued declarations and statements to emphasize the potential linkages among blue economy, conservation and sustainable development of marine fisheries and food security. Coastal aquaculture of the APEC economies plays an important role in global seafood supply. China alone contributes 60% of the global aquaculture products, and is making efforts to develop sustainable aquaculture to promote blue economy development. This project will focus on the sustainable development of marine fisheries, sharing with other APEC economics the implication of sustainable development of marine fisheries strategy, the approaches to be taken and the importance of international consultation and collaboration. The workshop will be held in Qingdao, China from October 17 to 22, 2018. A 6-day training workshop in the form of lectures, field trip, dialogue and international forum will be conducted with inviting the representatives of international research institutions and universities, government officials and outstanding enterprises, to share the theoretical and practical experience on “Healthy and Sustainable Aquaculture” and “Fishery Resources Conservation and Restoration”.
