Project Summary

Fishery industry (fishing and aquaculture sectors) generates a huge amount of fishery by-products from aquatic processing every year, those by-products are normally discarded away as a waste, which would cause fishery loss and environmental pollution. China, as the biggest fishery economy, has developed several techniques in value added utilization of fishery waste, which has been proved quite successful. To benefit and disseminate the techniques, experiences and practices of China in this field, a training workshop would be held in China during the second half of 2018 to conduct training courses on innovative technologies and knowledge to promote capacity building of APEC economies in value added utilization of fishery waste, and an international seminar would be held in China during the first half of 2019 by inviting APEC economies to share their policy and experiences regarding the value added utilization of fishery waste.
