Topic: The project aims to initiate sustainable network for standards dosimetry laboratory in Asia-Pacific region.
Summary: The rapid growth in the use of nuclear and radiation technology in Asia-Pacific region highlighted crucial roles of accurate radiation dosimetry and calibration to ensure safety uses and to prevent the radiological risk of stochastic effect. However, variations of dose measurement capability among the economies are observed and suggested requirement of adequate calibration facilities and quality assurance programme for this region. This project is a part of regional research cooperative framework amongst standards dosimetry laboratories where harmonisation of ionizing radiation metrological standard and chain of traceability to primary standard are conducted through inter-laboratory comparison exercise. These will enhance capability of all participated economies to meet international standard and will improve the quality assurace system for supporting ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation system.
Planned activities: The activity for this part will be a meeting to summarise the inter-comparison programme and revision of the regional framework, strategic and action plan to achieve sustainable development of the regional network.
