Australia proposes to survey APEC Economies to learn about their policies, legislation and initiatives to promote access to ICTs for people with hearing and/or speech impairments, and to develop a report presenting this information and providing an analysis of current trends. A copy of the proposed survey is at Appendix A.
The proposed survey is foreshadowed in the TEL Strategic Action Plan 2016-2020: Planning and Prioritization under Priority Area 1.1: Promote innovation and value creation in ICTs. It will build on Peru’s Seminar on Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities through Access to Telecommunications held at TEL 53.
Australia will circulate the survey to Economies in January 2017 seeking responses by end April 2017. It will compile responses, conduct an analysis and circulate a draft report by end June 2017. It will incorporate feedback and present a final report at TEL 56.
