New Zealand will fully fund a project to establish a framework on best practice in food safety, policy and systems for participation in food markets and develop training programmes in order to build capability to successfully implement the framework. The project will directly support the “transparent application of SPS and food standards” - one of the objectives of the Food Markets work. This project will consist of two phases:
1) Initial workshop of APEC members on 8 May 2016 (following PPFS1)
2) A pilot training programme hosted in New Zealand
The workshop and subsequent training programme will facilitate maximum participation in food markets by APEC members. The project will encourage partnerships between government and industry both in developing best practice framework and in delivering training programmes for APEC members. The design of this project is intended to be replicated as a tool for APEC economies.
The Workshop (FSCF / PPFS Workshop on Food Safety Systems) is planned in the margin of SCSC on 17 August 2016, in Lima, Peru.
