With a focus on reinforcing our efforts to establish public-private partnerships, this project will respond to the “Seoul Oceans Declaration of 2002”, “Bali Plan of Action of 2005”, “Paracas Declaration of 2012”, and follow-up on the “Xiamen Declaration of 2014”.
Chinese Taipei has hosted 16 APEC Roundtable Meetings on the Involvement of Business/Private Sector in Sustainability of the Marine Environment in the past 17 years. The 17th APEC Roundtable Meeting is scheduled to be held on August 31-September 2, 2016 in Taipei. The themes of this meeting are Food Security and Blue Economy.
In 2017, the 18th APEC Roundtable Meeting will be held in Chinese Taipei. Two major themes which are closely related to the business/NGO/private sectors will be discussed:
1) Food Security and Marine Resources; and
2) Marine Environment Protection.
The meeting summary will be reported in the Bulletin on Marine Resource Conservation and Fisheries and presented in the OFWG meeting in 2018.
(Due to the domestic budget review process, the project will be conducted only after the approval of Chinese Taipei’s budget of 2017 fiscal year).
