Despite most APEC economies actively invest in green growth, there are still a lot of difficulties to maintain the growth pace of low carbon energy investment and to realize the investment level that satisfying the needs of green economy though. More supportive and stable policy and regulatory framework are needed to overcome the barriers in either developed or developing economies.
In order to ensure the financial sustainability in renewable energy and energy efficiency fields. Chinese Taipei proposed APEC Green Energy Finance Initiative which was endorsed by EMM12. Consensus have been reached on the promotion of experience sharing and knowledge dissemination with regard to the governance that improve the participation of banks and capital market in green energy finance, and the formulation of clear, stable and consistent policies and regulatory system.
Under the frame work of APEC Green Energy Finance Initiative, the workshop aims to provide a platform for comprehensive dialogues to support the financial sustainability of renewable energy to further ensure regional energy security and success of transformation to low carbon economy in the APEC region. Experts of member economies, institutions and developers will be invited to share the policies, experiences and best practices from multiple perspectives, and to discuss the cooperation prospect and development trends of green energy finance through a roundtable session with relevant international organizations. The workshop will be held in 28-29 July in Taipei, Chinese Taipei.
