Project Summary

APEC economies further recognized the potential linkages among Blue Economy, conservation and sustainable development of marine and coastal resources. Coastal aquaculture of the APEC economies plays an important role in global seafood supply. China alone contributes 60% of the global aquaculture products, and is making efforts to develop sustainable aquaculture to promote blue economy development. While the traditional aquaculture causes severe pollution and other environmental issues in coastal waters, Coastal Eco-aquaculture Model could be an environmental friendly approach to contribute food security.

This project will scale up the Coastal Eco-aquaculture Model and Techniques based on the successful experience of China.

Firstly, we plan to compile the training manual on eco-aquaculture model and techniques.

Secondly, a 5-day technical training workshop including the field learning session will be conducted with inviting prestigious experts in relevant fields  from this region, to share the theoretical and practical experience on how to design, implement and  maintain a high-efficiency and ecological aquaculture model, which could effectively promote sustainable costal aquaculture in these regions.
