Project Summary

The objective of the project is to promote human exchange and economic revitalization in environmentally friendly manner by encouraging the visit of cruising vessels to ports within the regions of APEC in collaboration with IAPH.

The number of cruising passengers has doubled worldwide in the past 10 years. While the number of cruising passengers accounts for slightly less than 1% of the population in Europe, it accounts for slightly less than 4% in the US.  As it accounts for only approx. 0.06% of the population in the Asia-Pacific region, it is expected to achieve a significant increase in future.

For the ports at which the cruising vessels of the member states of APEC make or expected to make calls, the sharing of the port-related information (the information on port facilities and tourism resources) and the visit of cruising vessels to member economies are jointly promoted through international workshop, training course and research in this project.
