Project Summary

Many APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) holders will change their passport at least once during the current validity period of their ABTC.  It is important for economies to be able to handle these changes quickly and efficiently in order to minimise disruption to cardholders, particularly if the validity of the ABTC is ever extended.  This project proposes a system change to the ABTC System to better manage passport changes as well as an accompanying best practice guide for endorsement by the ABTC Working Group.

This issue has been discussed at the Business Mobility Group on a number of occasions since 2005.  At APEC SOM1 in Ningbo, the Business Mobility Group provided in-principle support to a proposal to make these changes.  Australia was tasked to confirm a funding source for the change and to propose an implementation and communication strategy.
