The project supports the goal of PPSTI in enhancing economic growth and social progress through an enabling environment for market-based innovation policy.
Bridging R&D and S&T efforts/activities to policy development is continuously being recognized because public policies are formulated based on empirical researches and science and technology innovations. The APEC as the “premier forum for facilitating economic growth, cooperation and prosperity for the region” generated various researches and innovations which should be translated into market-based policies.
Two 3-day workshops are proposed to be held in Manila, Philippines in 2016. The workshops will foster information sharing on researchers as well as science and technology innovations of APEC member economies that can be used in policy formulation. The workshops will provide a venue to discuss the process of formulating policy statements. Likewise, the workshops’ output will be a written policy recommendations for perusal of APEC leaders on the PPSTI areas of concern.
The schedule of the two 3-day workshops are as follows:-
First Workshop – April 2016
Follow-Up Workshop (2nd) – September 2016
