Project Summary

With the aim of furthering APEC’s objectives to reduce the legal, regulatory, and trade barriers faced by businesses, including Micro-, Small- & Medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), the United States proposes holding a one-day workshop at the August 2014 meeting of the Economic Committee to consider the inter-relationship between texts of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law and APEC member economies’ Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) indicators.  UNCITRAL is the core legal body of the United Nations system in the field of private international law.  It is a consensus-oriented organization whose work-streams are initiated and approved by involved UN member delegations comprising both private and public sector representatives.
